How The Media Lab Works
The need-to-know
There are two core components to our program: community and creativity. We give students the chance to build long-lasting friendships while engaging in a creative, innovative program. We like to think of it as more of a club than school (that’s how much fun we have).
We’ve intentionally crafted a space where people can be themselves while learning the process of creating something meaningful to share with the world.
At The Media Lab, we’re always learning, collaborating, and having fun. Here’s a sneak peek into some of the things our students learn inside the studio:
Film and Cinema
Broadcast TV - sitcoms, gameshow, newscasting
Camera, lights, audio
Editing
Set, prop, and art design
Stop-motion animation
Acting, script writing, and storytelling
YouTube and voice-over work
Teamwork, collaboration, and so much more!
Here’s how we teach hands-on learning both inside and outside of the studio:
Most of our students learn in our working studio, which is complete with cinema cameras, editing computers, broadcasting equipment, and a control room. This hands-on work environment gives our students the opportunity to create incredible work alongside their friends and staff. The Media Lab is a fully-functioning studio full of possibilities.
Our online and hybrid students work online, but the collaboration and community is just as strong as in the studio. Each student receives a camera kit to help them complete projects at home, and staff is logged in throughout the day to assist students and keep them plugged into the happenings at the studio.
At The Media Lab, our one-of-a-kind curriculum empowers our students to create, learn, and explore the area of film and media. Our doors are open year-round, and we’d love to meet you.
